I DID IT!!!
On September 20th, 2009, I became the first Irish person to complete a two-way English Channel swim. I left Abbot's Cliff in Dover on the morning of the 19th, swam to Wissant in France in 14 hours and 36 minutes and turned around and swam back. I landed in Dungness in England after a total of 35 hours and 20 minutes of swimming. It was an interesting landing-I landed at a nuclear power plant!
I really enjoyed the swim and I've enjoyed my time since I've come home even more-it's a whirlwind of phone calls and emails and texts and media attention. I'm having so much fun with it all! As soon as all of this dies down I'll put up a big long blog post about the swim and how it went for me. It might be a week or two yet though. In the meantime thank you so much to EVERYONE for their phenomenal support, it's been absolutely amazing. I'll get back to you all eventually, I promise!!

August, 2009 - Sponsor a Mile...
Now that time is getting close and training is calming down a little, I'm concentrating a bit more on trying to get ideas for fundraising. And one that I've decided on is to get people to sponsor a mile of my swim - anyone who donates €50 or more to my charities can pick one of the miles of my swim as 'their' mile. Read more about it here.
March 26th, 2009 - Big Announcement!
I know that it's been ages since I updated this. I've been so so busy with training and college and work-I've barely even been updating the blog! But now it's finally out in the open as to *why* exactly I'm doing so much training....I've changed my swim to a two-way....so when I get to France I'll be turning around and swimming back! I'll be the first Irish person to do it. My blog post about it is here and I've also updated some of this site with more information about it. I'm really looking forward to the challenge of it, roll on September!

December 15th, 2008 - Finally Uploaded!
The website is finally all ready to go! I have picked my charities for the swim-they are The Jack and Jill Foundation, Marymount Hospice and the Cork ARC Cancer Support House. You can find all the details on how to sponsor me here. Please be generous-it makes all my training worth it to know that I'm raising money for good causes!
